Corvias Foundation Provides Children of Employees with Valuable Scholarships

The Corvias Foundation is a nonprofit based in Warwick, Rhode Island, that provides support and assistance to the families of members of the US Armed Forces. In particular, the foundation focuses on helping military families access the education and skills development opportunities they need to advance their careers. It is the philanthropic arm of Corvias, a company that works with the Department of Defense, universities, and government organizations to solve infrastructure, real estate, and facilities challenges.

Both Corvias and the Corvias Foundation understand that military families face a number of unique challenges, including frequent moves, lengthy separations from deployed family members, and physical and mental health challenges related to deployments. Military children can struggle to adjust to frequent changes in schools, mid-year moves, and new communities. Military spouses, for their part, have the challenging responsibility of parenting on their own. The frequent moves can also interrupt their career progress.

To help mitigate these challenges, the Corvias Foundation takes a multi-faceted approach to supporting the educational needs of military spouses and dependents. It provides community connections, opportunity hubs, thought leadership, literacy support, professional opportunities, college advice, and K-12 school success programs. It also directly provides scholarships to a number of military families each year—since 2006, it has granted more than $20 million in such scholarships. Other beneficiaries of the foundation’s scholarships include Corvias employees and their families.

In providing these services, the Corvias Foundation partners with a number of like-minded organizations, including the National Military Family Association and the Army Scholarship Foundation. These partnerships enable the Corvias Foundation to reach more people, providing the support they need to thrive in the academic and professional setting.

Corvias Foundation Announces 2025 Scholarship Recipients

In July 2025, the Corvias Foundation announced scholarships for four students who are the children of Corvias employees, continuing a longstanding program. Julie Allen, executive director of the foundation, celebrated the announcement and scholarship recipients, stating, “We are proud to celebrate this year’s scholars. These students are exceptional in every sense—intellectually, personally, and in their communities. Our scholarship program reflects Corvias’ commitment to being a great place to work by investing in the future of our team members’ families.”

Four Exceptional Recipients

The recipients of the 2025 scholarships include students who recently graduated from high schools in Kansas and North Carolina. Sylvester Jackson graduated from Junction City High School in Junction City, Kansas, and is the son of Florence Ewing, a resident manager at Fort Riley. With the help of the Corvias scholarship, Sylvester attends the University of St. Mary, where he will study IT and cybersecurity. Sylvester is a natural fit for the scholarship thanks to his strong academic record and extracurriculars, which include volunteering and basketball. A staff member at the University of St. Mary recommended Sylvester for the award, citing his personal qualities: his character, leadership potential, and work ethic, which position him for success in college and beyond.

The daughter of Charles Henley, a resident associate at Fort Bragg, Ciara Henley graduated from Midway High School in Newton Grove, North Carolina. She plans to study interior design at East Carolina University. Ciara stands out from her peers because of her investment in her school community. She is an active member of several clubs, including Students Against Violence Everywhere and peer support groups. Her contributions to these organizations demonstrate an exemplary desire to give back to others.

Malina Jones is a student from Chapman High School in Chapman, Kansas, who demonstrates not only scholastic aptitude, but also a commitment to excellence. The daughter of Amanda Bedell, a resident associate at Fort Riley, Malina plans to attend the University of Kansas, where she will study speech education and pre-law. Her teachers describe her as a “once-in-a-career” student who is active in a variety of extracurriculars, including the National Honors Society, student council, peer tutoring, and volunteer efforts. She’s also won awards in theater and forensics.

Yet another student from Kansas, Melissa Paolino graduated from Doniphan West High School in Highland. Her mother, Amanda Paolino, works as an accountant. Melissa plans to study mechanical engineering at Kansas State University. Despite relocating part way through the school year, she graduated with 36 college credit hours already complete, as well as National Honors Society membership and an active presence on the basketball and track teams.

Giving Back to Employees

The Corvias Foundation focuses on providing high-quality academic support by awarding scholarships to a small cohort of students each year. By limiting the number of recipients, the foundation can strategically invest in their long-term educational goals, providing larger and more impactful grants. The scholarships are also a way to give back to Corvias employees, who work hard to support military families around the world.

In addition to scholarships from the foundation, Corvias offers employees volunteer programs, tuition reimbursement, and a two-for-one donation matching program, as well as competitive benefits packages. Ultimately, the scholarships uphold Corvias’ core principles: to deliver exceptional customer service, to give back to the community, and to make Corvias the best place to work.
