Corvias Foundation Joins the Bob Woodruff Foundation’s Got Your 6 Network

In October 2025, Corvias Foundation announced a new partnership with the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which operates the Got Your 6 Network, a national coalition of nonprofit organizations that support military members and their families.

Corvias Foundation’s inclusion in the Got Your 6 Network indicates a commitment to serving those who serve and positions the organization to expand the reach of its social programs. Ultimately, as part of the network, the foundation will be able to support even more military families in achieving their educational and professional goals.

Julie Allen, the executive director of Corvias Foundation, celebrated the partnership, saying in a press statement that, “This recognition is a testament to the commitment we have to the communities we serve. Joining the Got Your 6 Network amplifies our reach and deepens our ability to collaborate with like-minded organizations across the country to reach military families.”

The Bob Woodruff Foundation

The Bob Woodruff Foundation has its roots in a story of war, tragedy, recovery, and resilience. Journalist Bob Woodruff was reporting on the war in Iraq for ABC News in 2006. He and his colleague Doug Vogt were embedded with the US 4th Infantry Division when an improvised explosive device hit the vehicle they were traveling in. Both men survived the bomb, but with serious injuries. Woodruff suffered a life-threatening traumatic brain injury and spent more than a month in a medically-induced coma. He lost some of his ability to remember words, struggling with speech for over a year before returning to ABC in 2007.

Woodruff was treated at hospitals in Iraq, Germany, and then Bethesda Naval Hospital (now Walter Reed National Military Medical Center). During this time, he slowly recovered alongside US military members—but noticed that not all these brave men and women had access to the same level of care. The experience inspired Woodruff and his family to establish the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which supports veterans, service members, and their families. The foundation conducts research to understand the unique needs of this community, shares this information, and develops strategies to fulfill these unmet needs. It also provides grants and fosters collaboration among veteran-serving organizations and nonprofits—especially via its Got Your 6 Network.

The Got Your 6 Network

In the military, “Got your 6” is a common expression meaning “I’ve got your back.” The phrase is a fitting name for the Bob Woodruff Foundation’s network of partner organizations, which comprises almost 400 groups assisting veterans, active service members, and their families with physical and mental healthcare, disaster relief, job placement services, housing, and legal support. Network members share resources and knowledge and are able to amplify their individual impact as members of a national coalition. The Bob Woodruff Foundation also convenes conferences, webinars, and other events that allow network members to meet, learn, collaborate, and enhance professional growth.

The Got Your 6 Network—which now includes Corvias Foundation—spans organizations in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and American Samoa. Altogether, more than 20.6 million members of the military community can take advantage of the diverse services this network provides. That number represents nearly 99% of all American veterans and service members.

About Corvias and Corvias Foundation

Founded by John Picerne in 1998, Corvias is an infrastructure, logistics, and housing solutions provider based in Rhode Island. With a proven track record of success and constructive engagement, Corvias is founded on the principles of community, cooperation, and operating “by way of the heart.” The company emphasizes exemplary customer service, award-winning residential experiences, and overall excellence in its work and that of its employees and partners.

Corvias was one of the first private companies to partner with the US military on housing. The company quickly cleared billions of dollars of maintenance backlogs. Over the years, the company has expanded its partnership with the military, coordinating housing projects on a variety of military bases, installations, and facilities. Corvias is also deeply invested in the future of young people pursuing higher education throughout the US. It provides residential services on 15 different college campuses, making it one of the largest student housing providers in the country.

To further Corvias’ impact, Picerne created Corvias Foundation, which operates a scholarship program that has awarded more than $20 million to students from over 500 military families since 2006. The organization also oversees targeted programs that support military families as they weather the challenges of frequent moves, absent family members during deployments, and ever-changing social networks, as well as the pursuit of higher education and professional development. For example, one of these programs is College Connection, which offers guidance on choosing a college, applying for admission and financial aid, securing scholarships, and other advice for success on the college journey. In addition, the foundation is building out Opportunity Hubs, which will provide even greater access to resources, tools, services, and educational and professional opportunities for military-connected families. Joining the Got Your 6 Network will extend the reach and enhance the impact of these initiatives.
